Fr Cyriac Kurian was born in 1959 from Catholic parents belonging to the Eastern Rite, Syro-Malabar Church, popularly known as St Thomas Christians, in Kerala, the southernmost state of India. He joined the religious congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) in 1976. After his ecclesiastical studies in Dharmaram College, Bangalore, he was ordained a priest in 1985. Later he did his Engineering Studies and was in charge of an Engineering College (Polytechnic), run by the Congregation till 2014. He worked as the internal auditor in the province for a period of six years. He joined the Ecuador Mission in the Diocese of Riobamba (South America), but due to health problems he could not continue there. He came to the US in 2021 and joined the Diocese of Nashville and worked in the parishes, St John Vianney Church, Gallatin and St Rose of Lima Church, Murfreesboro.
