March 16

Pray for Vocations

As some of you may have heard, it is looking more and more likely that we will have an unprecedented number of new seminarians for the 2025–2026 year of formation, possibly more than double what we have accepted in any prior year in living memory. God is certainly blessing us in the Diocese of Nashville. While we are all excited about this prospect, we also recognize that an unprecedented number of seminarians will also require an unprecedented coordination of resources of every kind, from the personal to the financial to material goods. In particular, we are hoping to find the best location to house these men that allows us to maintain a high-quality formation program while cultivating a healthy community life among the men.

To that end, I would like you to invite you all to participate with me in a novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots. It is true that this "knot" has been given to us by the Lord, but it is a knot nonetheless. I plan to start this novena on Sunday, March 16th in order to conclude on the vigil of the Solemnity of the Annunciation. It is on that feast day that we celebrate the definitive moment when God came into the world in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary in order to bring about his plan of salvation, and my hope is that he will once again come into our lives through Mary in order to bring about his plan for this upcoming year with the seminarians of the Diocese of Nashville. Thank you for considering being a part of this prayer campaign and for sharing this with anyone who would like to join us. God bless!

Return: How to Draw Your Child Back to the Church
by Brandon Vogt

The statistics are troubling: 6.5 people leave the Catholic Church for every one that joins, and 50% of young people who were raised Catholic are no longer Catholic today. The Catholic Church is hemorrhaging young people.

Behind these statistics are countless stories of wounded families. Millions of mothers and fathers are longing for their prodigal children to come home to the Church, crying: “Where did we go wrong?”

The passive wait-and-see approach is no longer an option. We need a different strategy. We need to understand the real reasons why our young people drift away, and we need a game plan to bring them home. We need Return.
