Why Catholic?
Important for building our Catholic Community
WHY CATHOLIC? Have you ever been in a conversation with someone from another faith and they ask you a question about Catholicism that you could not answer?
Father Kirk and members of the Church of the Nativity are preparing for Year Two of "Why Catholic?", a faith-sharing program taking place throughout the Diocese of Nashville. "Why Catholic?" is a program developed by Renew International, www.renewintl.org.
A number of Church of Nativity parishioners participated in the sessions last year. We want to continue this, which is so helpful to building our community. Parish facilitators host small groups to pray together, study Scripture, and journey through the Cathechism to discover the foundations of their faith.
As we prepare for the next sessions, in order to meet the demand for this opportunity, we will need to add additional facilitators! If you are interested in participating in "Why Catholic?" as a facilitator or would like more information about the process, please contact Nancy Martinez (615) 595-2295, Andrea Murray (615) 599-8920 or Earl or Martha Weissert (615) 400-1431.
"Why Catholic?" groups meet once a week for six weeks, beginning the Week of February 14th. You do not have to have participated last year to join this year! The topic for this year, "Celebrating the Christian Mystery: Sacraments," explores the basic tenets of Catholicism. To participate in a "Why Catholic?" community group, Sign - Up Sundays will be January 23/24 and January 31/February 1, 2010.
