On Good Friday, our parish will take up the annual Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land. The daily news reminds us of the violence and instability plaquing the Middle East, but we rarely hear of the shrinking Christian community there, a community that struggles to remain in the land of Christ's birth, death and resurrection. Please help support our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land by giving to the Good Friday Collection. This Pontifical Collection allows the Franciscans and others to continue caring for Christianity's holiest sites and for God's people in the Holy Land. PLEASE BE GENEROUS IN YOUR SUPPORT. We will be taking photographs for a parish directory during the weeks of November 15 and November 22. Lifetouch will be taking the photographs at the church on Wednesday through Saturday of those weeks. Lifetouch has done directories for several local parishes including St. Philip, St. Catherine and St. Henry. Each family that has their picture taken will receive a free 8 x 10 photograph and a copy of the directory when it is published. You can also build your own photo package from several options that they offer. Lifetouch also has Christmas greeting cards that are competitively priced. We expect photographs to be back by December 10th, just in time for the Christmas.
Pictures will be taken November 10-13 and November 17-20 from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lifetouch handouts will be in the weekly bulletin in the coming weeks.

The "Why I Want to be Confirmed?" paper is due by 2/28/10 and the the Saints paper is due by 3/21/10. Father will want to meet with all of them regarding their papers so don't leave it to the last minute.
The Confirmation Retreat day will be Sunday, April 18th from 12:30 pm to 8 pm. There will be no Confirmation class that morning and the teens should come to the church on a full stomach. We will do snacks and supper. This is a mandatory retreat, not an option! Also, we will have mass as a group at 5 pm that night and then supper, prayers, and wrap up after that.
We will have a small mass service on Thursday, April 22nd at 6:30 pm with Confession to follow for all the teens being confirmed. Their families are encouraged to attend as well. There will be several priests available and the sacrament of Penance is needed before they make their Confirmation on Saturday the 24th at 1 pm at St. Catherine's in Columbia. This will probably be about 1 1/2 hours long give or take.
