TOTUS TUUS 2011
JULY 17-22
TOTUS TUUS(Latin for "Totally Yours") is a fun and energetic summer catechetical program for both grade school age children and junior and senior high school youth. The Totus Tuus team consists of four members, two men and two women. They are qualified college students, recent college graduates, and seminarians all who have received catechetical training and go out to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in parishes throughout the Diocese of Nashville. Their youthfulness, energy, and ability to witness to the faith make the missionaries particularly effective with children and young people.
They will present two programs:
Program 1: Sunday through Thursday 7:30 PM -9:30 PM for Junior and Senior High (rising 7th graders through 12th graders). The goal is to put them in contact with the Risen Lord so they can develop a deep, personal relationship with Him through relevant and vibrant catechesis, Adoration, opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and an entire week of fellowship with the team.
Program 2: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 2:30PM for grade school age children (rising 1st -6th graders). Our time is spent on catechetical instruction, songs, games, daily Mass, the opportunity for Sacrament of Reconciliation, lunch, recess and more! The program ends with water activities on Friday afternoon in celebration of the week. The focus is on imparting an understanding and love of the Eucharist, devotion to Mary, effective catechesis, vocational awareness, and an all-around fun experience.
The team also strives to get to know each parish and its members. In order to do this, they stay with families of the parish, eat with different families throughout the week and invite the entire parish to a "potluck" dinner on Wednesday night.
2 Volunteers are needed to house 2 men or 2 women missionaries for the week. Volunteers are needed to host a dinner for the group (6-7 people) in your home Sun, Mon, Tue, Thur, and Fri nights. To volunteer, please contact faithformation@nativitycatholic.net.
